The hit of the Covid-19 caused a great pandemic around the world making the faith of human life hang in a balance. All human activities were cut down tremendously leading to a global lockdown, it questions what holds for us and what more to expect in the future.
This painting depicts the image of an expectant mother holding a nose mask. The nose mask is seen as an emblem of protection as it covers the nostrils meant for breathing to keep the soul alive and the mouth which feeds the body for necessary strength. The woman is seen holding up one hand to cover her breasts which is the means of nutrition and resources for the growing up of her unborn child while the other hand is positioned over the stomach sending a warm heart feeling message telling the child not to worry, for there is hope.
The woman depicts the present while the unborn child represents the future. The future relies on the actions of the present as it determines what the future should be prepared for. The brown skinned woman is adorned with African plaited hairstyle and green flowing earring depicting the richness in the African culture. The background has in it icons of the Covid-19 surrounded by the woman with the dark background showing the extent to which the virus has saturated the world and we are to do all we can to bring the unborn child to a cleaner world.
